OUR MISSION
| What does TCQAE do? The TCQAE is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and a Statewide Service Organization of the Texas Commission on the Arts . The TCQAE maintains statewide communication between the leadership of our Executive Board/Member Organizations, conducting up to six (6) meeting per year. The TCQAE members work in concert to serve as common voice for the advancement of quality fine arts education for all student in Texas by: • Articulating the importance of student learning (beginning in early childhood) in the fine arts disciplines (music, art, theatre, dance); and, • Communicating proven standards for quality arts programs in our schools The TCQAE act a a common voice for fine arts education, representing the over three million students enrolled in the fine arts in Texas, their parents, educators. Community leaders, and arts advocated involved in and supportive of fine arts education, both publicly and privately. The TCQAE provides advice and consultation, speakers on the importance of quality arts education, and advocacy materials. The TCQAE monitors and provides testimony on legislation and state board of education action relevant to fine arts education. The TCQAE developed the Texas Fine Arts Education ACCORD, which states our beliefs in what quality fine arts education should be. This document includes: defining the fines arts; curriculum issues; scheduling; professional development; college education and teacher preparation; students with disabilities; Gifted and Talented/magnet schools; and financial support. The TCQAE coordinated Texas’ first Arts Education Day at the Capitol March 10, 1997. March 1999 was celebrated as Texas Education in the Arts Month (TEAM), and March 15, 1999 was our second Arts Education Day at the Capitol. March 5, 2007 was our sixth Arts Education Day at the Capitol. |
